the Benevolent Cardinal

I haven't posted on here in eons! Ugh.
Made this really quick yesterday. I was in the mood to make some bird art like the sketches earlier, so here's that Cardinal...

I made this pattern last week, intending to use it for something. It ended up as my desktop background.

storm

A peek of what's to come in my webcomic, The Next Adventure. I couldn't decide which blog was going to get this one, but I settled for the illustration blog since it doesn't have the guaranteed weekly update The Next Adventure does.

Birds

Jen and my show was yesterday, and it was a grand old time. I've got a few more pieces that were there to show. They all have names now, too, so that's fun.

What I Love About Ironwood #14

car

I'm feeling melancholy, and it has a lot to do with leaving Ironwood again.

Today I drove the car over a patch of ice that broke, revealing a hole in the road, half a foot full of water. My brother and sister and I couldn't push it out, but lo and behold we were rescued by the guy from the neighboring collision center, who happened by. He hooked the car up with a chain and pulled us out, just 'cause.

And that's what this "what-I-love-about-Ironwood" is about. People here do nice things for no reason at all, things that even friends will make a deal about.

I want to make a book of things I love about Ironwood.

High school spirit?

More like town spirit. My old high school has a t-shirt design contest in which the applicants create a new design for the mascot (the Red Devils) of the school. The mascot originated from Ironwood's founding industry, mining. Because the chief export was iron ore, and iron ore is sort of reddish in color, the miners would come out of the mines covered in red dust and therefore looked like "red devils".

I've made a sketch to work from...
